Kickstart Trainee Roles

The Kickstart Scheme is a 6-month paid job with a local employer providing an opportunity for people aged 16-24 to gain experience of working in some of the most exciting companies. We have a number of Kickstart roles available at Storyhouse for young people looking to gain experience in the arts and culture industry. 

As a trainee you will be allocated a mentor who will provide you with support including advice on being in a workplace, work-place safety and teamwork skills. You will be supported in each department to gain new skills and be given opportunities to practically apply them. You will also have opportunities for reflection and to plan what is next for you beyond the placement. 

Am I eligible? 

To be eligible you must:
Be in receipt of Universal Credit
Be aged 16-24 years old

What are the roles at Storyhouse?

These paid roles are 25 hours per week. The hours are flexible and may include evenings and weekends.

Finance Trainee
This is a great opportunity to build valuable skills in business and finance. You will support Storyhouse’s Finance Team by learning how to do tasks such as processing invoices, administrating accounts and more. The friendly Finance Team at Storyhouse are integral to the running of Storyhouse and will support you as you learn about what they do and why it matters, and you’ll pick up skills and knowledge that will be useful in any industry.

Marketing Assistant Trainee
This is a great opportunity for a creative person interested in social media, TV, film or theatre. You will help Storyhouse’s friendly Marketing Team creating social media posts, webpages and emails; advertise what’s on and help bring more audiences in and learn about what the Marketing Team do and why it matters.

How do I apply? 

If you are in receipt of Universal Credit and fall within the age bracket, you can ask your Work Coach at the JobCentre to refer you for any of our Kickstart trainee roles. 
Once you have been referred, you will need to fill in the below application form. Please contact us on email if you require any support with your application HR.team@storyhouse.com
