We’re devastated to have to cancel your tickets for A Christmas Carol. Unfortunately, Chester has entered Tier 3 which means we are not legally able to continue with live audiences in Storyhouse.

There’s no sensible prospect of us being able to resume in time for the early January dates, so we are cancelling the remainder of our Christmas season with the heaviest of hearts. This is heartbreaking for our actors and teams, our communities and our friends.

We’ve put more shows on sale than any other theatre in the UK since the pandemic, and we very nearly made it through. When we embarked on A Christmas Carol, we asked you to donate the first £10 of the ticket price to help us with the cost of a potential lockdown, and this made you a Christmas theatre angel, our own Clarence Odbody. Thank you.

As well as your refund details, we have also sent you (to the email address attached to your A Christmas Carol booking) a code which you can use to book a completely free ticket to access one of 16 live streams of A Christmas Carol between now and 3 January. Please use it, it’s a wonderful show and we’d love you to see it. It’s also a wonderful life, even in this fix!

FAQs

Will I get a refund?
You will be able to choose from a refund of your ticket (minus the £10 donation) or to donate the remainder of your ticket amount to Storyhouse. This will be processed in early January – thank you for bearing with us over the Christmas period.

Do I need to pay for the live stream?
No, your access to the live shows is complimentary, you can watch all or some of them by booking using the same promo code. The cost is normally £19.50 for Members and £22 for non-Members.

Will I be refunded my donation?
£10 of each ticket price was a non-refundable donation towards a forced lockdown, which is unfortunately where we are now. It’s not our job to make your life harder right now, we’re all in this together and we know that Christmas is tough for many this year. year. If you are experiencing real difficulty and feel the need to reverse this donation, write to us here.

Do I need to do anything else?
If you have filled out the form above then no, just enjoy Christmas and pick a date to watch A Christmas Carol from the safety of the sofa. And we’ll see you in the New Year.
