Spaces available for community activity
Book pod
This is a semi private area in the middle of the first-floor Cinema Foyer: a seated space containing six lounge chairs and two low tables surrounded by stand-alone bookshelves which people will be free to come in and browse. This space is suitable for a non-messy seated activity – something very social like a craft that doesn’t rely on no background noise. The Cinema Foyer benefits from a lot of natural light through the large feature window.

Meeting room
A beautiful room lined with bookshelves on the first floor just off the reading rooms. The door can be closed to block off background noise and to create privacy for the activity if required. The room contains six tables that link together to make one large table, seating 14. This tables can be removed if necessary. This room has windows overlooking Northgate Street and Hunter Street.

Storytelling room
Situated within the dedicated children’s library (Den), the storytelling room has raked seating for approximately 20 people. This space will be used mostly by children and their families during the day for storytelling events but could be used in the evening for read for pleasure groups of any age, read-aloud groups or poetry performances for example.

Messy play space
Also situated within the Den, this space can contain a trestle table and chairs for adults or smaller tables and chairs for children. The space comes with a sink to allow for cleaning up messy play. This space will be used mostly by children and their families during the day, however can be available during the evening for teenagers and adults to use for arts and crafts activity as an example.

The Garret Bar
The bar has floor-to-ceiling windows providing lots of natural light and offering views across the city skyline and the hills of North Wales. Capacity is approximately 70 people. The bar has a range of comfy bar furniture which can be moved around and added to. The space could be used for a variety of activity including interest groups, debates, talks, lectures, hacks, music session jams and anything involving digital technology.

Lobby
This is the main entrance for the building and features comfy chairs which could be moved to make space for musical instruments as this could be an ideal space for a ‘buskers spot’ or jamming session. Any people using this space would need to be happy with people passing through and maybe stopping to watch!

Event space
This space is situated in the heart of the former Odeon building and will be the main thoroughfare when the theatres are in use. Tables and chairs could be set up in this area but this space lends itself best to pop-up performances for the public sitting in the café and restaurant to enjoy or for exhibitions, or projections onto a large screen that can be flown down into the space where the original Odeon proscenium arch screen was.

Mezzanine
This space wraps around the cinema and includes three long benches of study spaces with computers. If you are sat in this area you will have easy access to the local & family history collection or the Society & Sciences collection of the library. This space is ideal for activity involving digital activity, research and writing.

And last, but not least…
The following three performance/screening spaces will be less frequently available for community activity due to the programmed, ticketed events taking place but certainly present opportunities for the community programme.
If you are a local, amateur or voluntary organisation that would like to perform or exhibit in these spaces then they are also available for a straight hire.
Cinema
Although the 100-seat boutique cinema will be screening 4 films a day, you might want to use the cinema for a community or school event, for film screenings, award ceremony, lectures or debates one morning.
