Wellbeing Practical Workshop
MAKE is a creative project at Wrexham Glyndwr University, which provides staff and students withregular online tutorials of creative activities. Participants take part in both synchronous and asynchronous arts-based learning, using simple and cost-effective materials, and share images of their made objects on the virtual classroom. MAKE is a way of creating a sense of connection and community, bringing together staff and students to share skills, and promoting wellbeing.
This workshop will provide an overview of the MAKE project, and an opportunity to experience a MAKE session by creating handmade books. In education, books are central to our daily lives. We all read them, we often recommend them, some write them, but how often do we make them? Participants will be guided through a simple method to craft a handmade notebook using materials that would usually be thrown away or recycled. Creating something new from something old, these simple notebooks can be repositories for thoughts, ideas, prose, poems, lists, images, recipes… the choice is yours. No artistic skill is necessary, but you will need: a pair of scissors, any old paper/card, string or ribbon, and a teaspoon.
This presentation will take place on Zoom. After booking you will receive an email with the link and passcode a few days before the event.
