The LGBTQ+ movement in the UK has fought bruising battles for equality. Are Your Proud? combines rare archive footage with interviews from across a spectrum of activists celebrating the progress achieved through movements such as Pride, and asking questions about the future of the Pride celebrations which take place in locations right across the UK.
This screening will feature a post-show Q&A with director Ashely Joiner, who will be joined by LGBTQ+ activist Joan Burnett.
Joan is originator and co-programmer of Film With Pride. She started as a volunteer on Liverpool’s Outsiders Queer Film Festival in 2006 and later spent 9 years as a Trustee of Liverpool Pride until retiring in December 2018. Her day job is as Visitor Services Manager at FACT, helping audiences enjoy the best in new art and film. Her interests are LGBT+ film from around the world and the history of LGBT+ activism.
