Chester 45 actions by 2045
Good for Nothing Chester is a community group with over 400 members whose purpose is to use their individual talents to accelerate positive change across the city. Back in 2020 Cheshire West and Chester council commissioned GFN to create a community consultation to review the One City Plan. Fast forward to summer 2022 and alongside community leaders, council officers and elected members they have contributed to the development of a new framework.
Chester is following in the footsteps of major cities across the globe including New York and Bristol who have embedded the United Nations Sustainable Development goals.
GFN Co-Lead Uná Meehan will be joined by cabinet member Richard Beacham to discuss how the council have developed this new and forward-thinking plan that will support the goal of Net Zero by 2045 utilising The Chester Test. A decision wheel, that utilises the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, alongside the principles pioneered by Kate Raworth to place people and the planet at the heart of decision making. This is the decade for action if we are to secure Chester’s future economic, environmental and social success.
