There is a theory in improv that’s says, “listen like a paranoid, play like a thief.”
This will be a performance that puts that philosophy into the realm of action. In deconstructing this philosophy, “Listen like a paranoid” means for the participants to observe the smallest gestures, sounds, movements and take it into a personal action.
“Play like a thief”, refers to the performer utilizing personal experiences to fulfil their characters or their participation in the scene. In improv this leads to grounded, realistic scenes instead of wacky comedy.
