In this lecture, Dr Glenys Holt of the School of Psychology will take you into the strange world of false confessions, where words can have terrible consequences, and lies become the truth.What compels someone to falsely confess, and how does that moment change the course of a trial, and ultimately a life? We will consider why confessions are so powerful, even if they can be proven false, and why it is so hard to see the lies behind the words.
