On the eve of retirement, the well-to-do Sandra (Imelda Staunton) discovers her husband has been having an affair with her best friend and is forced into exile with her bohemian sister Bif (Celia Imrie) who lives on an impoverished inner-city estate. A comedy of manners ensues as Sandra is forced to adjust to her new surroundings.
