Captioned Screening: 11am, Mon 4 Mar

Director: Peter Farrelly
Stars: Mahershala Ali, Viggo Mortensen, Linda Cardellini

Oscar Winner: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), Best Original Screenplay

Set in 1962 driver Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) is hired to chauffeur African- American concert pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) on a tour of the Deep South. Aware that they may face prejudice and possible violence based on the colour of Shirley’s skin they rely on ‘The Green Book’ a guide to safe places for African-Americans to frequent.

Director Peter Farrelly, best known for the crowd-pleasing comedies of the 1990s such as Something About Mary, brilliantly works with the more serious subject of racial inequality and division to create a smart and ultimately uplifting story of an unlikely friendship.
