Incredible Women, is a project created by Jolyne, Storyhouse Creative Learning Trainee and former Storyhouse Young Leader. She has interviewed women who are thriving in careers traditionally dominated by men to create a very special film. Jolyne has created this film particularly for people thinking about their GCSE options, A-level choices, Apprenticeships, Degrees, Training, Jobs, Careers, what to do next, and is great for anyone looking for a sprinkle of inspiration.
The interviews feature women from the worlds of business, wellbeing, politics, education, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, aviation, the Army and the emergency services.
A free drop-in screening of the film will take place at Storyhouse Cinema on Wednesday 56 April from 3.30pm. The films will be captioned. You will soon also be able to view the interviews on our Vimeo channel – details will be released soon.
Interviews include insights from Jess Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley and Kirsty Murphy MBE, former Red Arrows pilot and now part of The Blades. Find out about how they have pathed the way in their careers, what challenges they have overcome and what tips they have for you.
Jolyne Thomas, Storyhouse Creative Learning Trainee and former Storyhouse Young Leader said:
“This is for young people, particularly young women, who are doing their GCSEs or nearing the end of school and thinking what they want to do. I really want them to feel impassioned and emboldened and to see that there are so many careers in the world, and you can do anything. There isn’t a single thing that women can’t do. I want to tell them – these are women I found doing this job, you can do it too. You can go further, you can do something different. You can do it.”
