Part of: Storyhouse Parent

Director: Iain Cunningham

Iain was just three years old when his mother Irene died.

His dad never spoke about it, and the family silence around his mother meant that she was alive only in Iain’s imagination. Later in life, the birth of his own child inspires a journey to discover the truth about Irene, piecing together fragments of the past to make sense of the present.

Using animation mixed with filmed footage, Irene’s Ghost follows a son’s search to find out about the mother he never knew.

The screening will be introduced by Jocelyn Ellams from Action in Postpartum Psychosis.

The programming of this film is inspired by the Storyhouse Parent festival.
