Jodi Picoult is an author who comes out of her corner fighting.  She has written over twenty novels that tackle issues and subjects others would shy away from.  She has a strength and urgency that remains undiminished, and with every book a new challenge for understanding is laid out. In her most recent novel, Small Great Things, Picoult took on the explosive subject of race and prejudice.  It caused a storm on publication.  In October 2018, she takes her readers into depth-charge territory to look at the issue of the right to life, against the right to choose.
