All events (except cinema) are FREE thanks to the incredibly kind support of many organisations and individuals doing great work in Chester and Cheshire. There’s no need to book, just turn up. (Limited capacity for some events).
In the Den & Storytelling Room
Paws And Read
11am – for 30 mins – The Den
One for dog lovers! Take part in this 30-minute session facilitated by volunteers from Therapy Dogs Nationwide; both readers and non-readers are welcome. The calming effect and non-judgmental approach of a dog can have a general calming effect and help improve the reading ability of participants. Therapy Dogs Nationwide is a new charity which helps thousands of people across the country each week by providing Therapy Dog Visits. It has been shown that these visits can be extremely beneficial and have a positive impact upon quality of life.
Arts and Crafts
11am-3pm – The Den
Drop in With LIVE! A variety of Arts and Craft activities. Come along and let your inner Picasso take over.
11.35am & 1pm – 30 mins per session – Storytelling Room
Steph Green is an experienced theatre director and drama facilitator whose work includes projects with Leonard Cheshire Disability. Storytelling is for grownups too! Let Steph’s high energy guide you through the wonderful world of your own imagination as you create a brand-new story together. Steph will use your suggestions for heroes, places, accents, villains, animals to tell a new tale which could go anywhere our imaginations are big enough to go. Expect fun and a lot of laughter.
1.35pm – 40 mins – Storytelling Room
A workshop for adults and children (accompanied) on the autistic spectrum, who have sensory processing difficulties. At this workshop you will be guided through a selection of sensory circuit exercises by volunteers from the National Autistic Society.
2.30pm-4pm – Storytelling Room
A pop-up sensory room for adults, a space to be calm.
In the Garret Theatre (4th floor)
Good Morning Storyhouse!
10am-10.30am – Garret Theatre
Gentle exercise led by the team at Northgate Arena.
11am – for 20 mins – Garret Theatre
Have a go at flamenco dancing with Deva Flamenco . This exciting Spanish dance involves lots of clapping and foot stamping, as well as some great dance moves.
11.30am – 30 mins – Garret Theatre
A performance by Scope Skills Development Centre (Blacon) “See Us” consists of some upbeat dances, catchy songs, touching stories and a humorous sketch, together showing a glimpse of who our performers are as individuals. The group aim to show the audience that they are people first and ‘disabled’ second. They challenge the view that learning disabilities create a barrier against integration with others.
African Drumming Workshop
12.15pm – for 15 mins – Garret Theatre
A taster session by LIVE! that normally takes place at New Scene Youth Centre – have a go at playing a variety of rhythms using djembes and percussion instruments.
Dance on Film
12.30pm-1pm – Garret Theatre
Sit back and relax with your lunch whilst watching a series of art films created by Canal Street Movers, Chrysalis Group plus more.
1pm – for 20 mins – Garret Theatre
Led by Claudia Maranhao who specialises in teaching yoga to adults with disabilities.
1.30pm – for 30 mins – Garret Theatre
Join in and make some music, no experience required!
Inclusive Dance workshop
2.15pm – for 45 mins – Garret Theatre
Led by More Reasons to Dance Network (Cheshire Dance). Don’t let your disability be a barrier in taking part in dance. No experience required.
Sensory Dance Workshop
3.30pm – 30 mins- Garret Theatre
Captivating the senses using smells, textures, sounds, touch and movement to bring dance to life making it meaningful and accessible led by Ruby Hannah-Tapp.
In the Garret Bar
9.30am-3pm – Garret Bar
Drop-in Chat, chill or enjoy the free wifi whilst enjoying food and drinks in the beautiful top floor bar.
The Bren Project & Bren Bikes

Come along to meet the team behind The Bren Project and Bren Bikes who are based at the New Scene Centre.

Be part of making a giant work of art at the festival, all using post-it notes and some creativity! Come and join in

With Cheshire Downs Syndrome Support. Have a go at something you may not have tried before or teach someone else what you know!
