Extraordinary people telling their story whether it be inspirational, fascinating, on the subject of something you have never heard of before or simply entertaining.

This event is a real pick and mix of human beings and the stories we all have to tell.

Katrin Blake will tell her story after living in Chester for the last 12 years after moving to the UK from Germany. She will focus on the similarities, differences and curiosities of her two languages: German and English. From the point of view of a bilingual/bicultural person, how the new language overtakes the old one, mixed up with lots of examples, some fun facts and a bit of lingual history.

Ermy Pedata, neurolanguage coach and founder of The Language Rose (a website for language learners who love travelling and exploring the world), will bring you on a journey that shows you how her passion for languages revealed to be life changing for her as well as for the people she encountered on her life path. Can learning another language be a life changing experience? Learning a new language can certainly help you develop your confidence and resilience which will make you a much more well rounded, empathetic communicator, but it can also lead you to events and opportunities that can deeply impact your life.

Simon Allen will tell his story of his planning to run from west to east coasts of sub-Saharan Africa after being inspired by Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Sean Conway (the first person to swim, cycle and run the full length of Britain). Hear about Simon’s training including various UK half marathons, the same in Australia, and a high altitude half marathon in Lesotho at 6500 feet. Simon is now working on funding the trip and organising my support – his wife and a 4 wheel drive campervan which will all be in aid of Save The Children.

Michela Di Carlo will tell an entertaining story all about pasta  – as an Italian Michela will highlight those simple misunderstandings around the Italian way of cooking and enjoying Pasta: from those artificial pre-made, yet very popular, sauces, to the importance of the water we use. Michela is a food & lifestyle journalist, former feature writer for the Italian National newspaper “La Repubblica”, and ex brand ambassador for the TV Chef Gino D’Acampo. Founder of crunchytales.com a digital illustrated magazine for women over 40.
