Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki has been delighting audiences for decades with his off-beat comedies and visually stylish films. The Other Side Of Hope is a bitter-sweet story of a Syrian refugee, Khaled who forms an unlikely friendship with a down at heel Finnish business man. Khaled takes employment in the business man’s latest ill-advised venture – a run down restaurant – where he becomes part of a team of odd-ball employees and embarks on a scheme to find his sister and bring her to join him.
