Directed by Dee Rees
Starring: Adepero Oduye, Pernell Walker, Kim Wyans, Sahra Mellesse, Aasha Davis

Embrace the story of Alike, a teenager from Brooklyn discovering and coming to terms with her sexuality. Despite her parents’ disapproval she strives to find a girlfriend and the up and downs that come with the pursuit of love. Pariah is a film that showcases the adversity that members of the LGBTQIA+ communities can face in society, though we hope that this film will enlighten and awaken and encourage individuals to be more accepting.

Following the film there will be a panel discussion with members of the Storyhouse Young Programmers group.

‘This movie perfectly raises the issue of how unaccepting our society is today with LGBTQIA+ with the hope that this film will awaken people and help understand the struggles of thousands of people like Alike’  – Mia, Young Programmer.
