In 2015, Niloufar Ardalan was captain of the Iranian women’s indoor football team, which had just reached the Asian Championships final in Malaysia. Incredibly, she was prevented from playing, becauseher TV presenter husband would not give her the permission to travel abroadthat married women in Iran legally need.

A fictionalised version of this extraordinary situation, Permission is the debut feature from Iranian dramatist and film-maker Soheil Beiraghi.

Introduced by Prof Roger Shannon who has produced more than 25 UK award winning feature films for the BFI, UK Film Council and Scottish Screen. Until recently, he was also Professor of Film and Television at Edge Hill University until his retirement in December 2019.
