Imagine a classroom where all children have the potential to learn because they build knowledge on the logic of experience? … because they connect imaginative physical and visual representations of knowledge to what they know already? … because the participation of everyone is valued? This workshop will apply Dewey’s theory of Experience and Education in order to explore how children can use their powers to learn concepts that all primary and secondary children are expected to know. Drawing on Boden’s concept of exploratory creativity, images will be used to create realisable representations of knowledge in concepts that can often cause anxiety in classrooms. This workshop is designed to immerse participants in creative learning so that they might imagine an equitable and stimulating learning environment for all children.
