A selection of the most popular films from this year’s ShAFF (Sheffield Adventure Film Festival), including the most exciting voices and athletes from the worlds of climbing, biking, running and the water.

With high adrenaline and stunning action, alongside quieter moments of contemplation and revelation, this collection of short films is specially selected by the festival directors to capture the unique spirit of ShAFF. Reflecting the diversity of the outdoor experience around the world, as well as showcasing award winning Sheffield-made films and athletes, the Best of ShAFF 2022 will inspire audiences in their own adventures, and prompt them to consider what ‘adventure’ means in today’s world.

A funny, honest, genuine and heartfelt story.

Ultrarunner Martin Johnson attempts to set a new Fastest Known Time on the 184-mile Thames River Trail. It’s an impressive athletic pursuit, but also a chance to contemplate the entangled history of Black British people and the river. It’s a journey of self-discovery, punctuated by discovery and joy.
