The Storyhouse Big Band was a hit on its debut at last year’s festival when it was joined by John Helliwell playing arrangements of Supertramp’s singalong hits.

For 2019 the programme promises an evening of arrangements of much-loved classic tunes from the great American Songbook, along with exciting contemporary compositions by Gwilym Simcock, Andy Scott and fellow big band performers.

Simcock is currently composer-in-residence with the NDR Big Band in Hamburg, for whom he has composed a new Sawgrass Suite.

He and award-winning tenor saxophonist and composer Andy Scott will be joined by some of the finest musicians in the North West.

Big band, big sounds, great energy and great fun guaranteed.
