Storyhouse Elders is the name of the series of events and activities that happen in and around Storyhouse.
At Storyhouse we believe that people aged 55 – 100+ have the right to reinvent themselves, retrain and reskill as well as having to opportunity to enjoy and experience the arts, whether that’s watching a play or film; painting, print making, writing poems and more.
During the week 17- 23 October we want to fill the spaces in Storyhouse with plenty of events, workshops, performances to inspire and entertain you.
We need your help – we want to know what you want to hear, see and do. If you are keen to be involved then please come along to one of these two sessions – one in the Garret Bar in Storyhouse and one online on zoom.
For the online zoom session in particular we would welcome groups join from residential houses – we just need one spokesperson to feed back ideas.
The sessions will be led by Nicola – a community manager for Storyhouse. In previous years Nicola has worked with Age UK Cheshire, Brightlife and Here and Now to organise events in Storyhouse. After a two year break due to the pandemic we are excited to bring these events back to the spaces.
At the event you can find out what events have happened in previous years; you will have time to think about new ideas. You will also hear about how you can get more involved and join a focus group which will meet regularly over a 12 month period to discuss plans and have the opportunity to go on visits and/or attend other events (on and offline) for research.
Tuesday 28 June – Garrett Bar
If you wish to attend the in-person event at Storyhouse, this is taking place in the Garret bar (Floor 4) which is accessible via stairs and lift. Storyhouse volunteers will be at the front doors to meet and greet you and provide assistance to the garret bar.
Thursday 30 June – Online
If you wish to attend the online session on zoom.com please book a place and then the login details will be emailed to you nearer the time. If you are representing a residential house then you are welcome to email nicola@storyhouse.com to request the zoom login details.
An alternative to these two sessions is to email nicola@storyhouse.com and request a visit to your community group/residential house. We would love to hear from you.
