FAQ

Do I need to book a ticket for the adult attending with the child?
With each child ticket, an accompanying adult can attend for free. If you book two children’s tickets, two adults can attend, etc.

Can extra adults go in with the child to the Storytelling?
Additional adult tickets can be purchased for £3.50.
If additional adults don’t want to attend, they are of course welcome to wait in the other part of the children’s library or grab a seat in The Kitchen.

I’m taking my child in, but I also have a baby. Are they OK to attend?
Yes of course. The event is recommended for children over 18 months, but if you’re bringing an additional baby they can just sit on your knee.

Can we buy a ticket on the day?
As long as we have availability. Because this event has proven so popular in previous years, we do advise booking in advance.
If there are tickets available, you can buy a ticket from the kiosks, from staff at The Kitchen, or on your phone using Storyhouse’s free Wifi.

We’ve brought an extra child along. Can they come in too?
Again, as long as there are tickets available you can buy one on the door. Do remember that due to the limited capacity of the space, everyone attending needs a ticket.

Are there any accessible Storytelling with Santa sessions?
Yes, there are British Sign Language Interpreted and Relaxed sessions (detailed below).

Can we do anything else at Storyhouse?
Yes, there’s plenty to do once you’re here. As well as our big family Christmas show Peter Pan, there’s the brilliant children’s library, which also hosts free arts and crafts every weekend for you to enjoy.
Why not book for a film in the Storyhouse Cinema, which shows great family films every weekend at 10.30am for just £4 each, as well as other great films throughout the day. (Click here for the latest films).

Can we have our photograph taken with Santa?
Yes of course!

Relaxed Sessions

The following sessions are relaxed, which are ideal for any children who would benefit from a more relaxed environment. This may be someone with a learning disability or an autism spectrum condition.

There will be fewer people, no flashing images, lights will stay up throughout, and there will also be additional support from staff.

  • Sun 1 Dec   (11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm)
  • Sun 8 Dec   (11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm)
  • Sun 15 Dec   (11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm)

BSL Interpreted Sessions

There are two scheduled sessions that will be British Sign Language interpreted, where a signer will interpret Santa’s story as well as share your wishes with him:

  • Sun 22 Dec   (1.10pm, 1.40pm)

Santa and his Elves will be Makaton trained, so will be able to talk to children and incorporate this into the Christmas story.
