Part of: Highsmith On Film

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Starring Farley Granger, Robert Walker, Ruth Roman

Hitchcock’s adaptation of Highsmith’s story of the perfect murder.

After a chance meeting on a train, Bruno (Robert Walker) suggest he murders Guy’s (Farley Granger) unfaithful wife, while Guy disposes of Bruno’s hated father – and the pair, having no motive for their respective crimes, get away with everything. Assuming it’s a joke, Guy awkwardly agrees, but it soon becomes apparent that Bruno has a decidedly sick sense of humour.

This screening will be introduced by Steven Price PhD, Professor Emeritus in Modern & Contemporary Literature & Film at Bangor University.

In addition to having published extensive work in his specialist areas of research – screenwriting history, screenplay texts, and intermedial studies – Steven has also taught innovative modules on Alfred Hitchcock and Detective Fiction during his tenure at Bangor University.
