From the creators of The Secret of Kells and Song of The Sea, and nominated for the Best Animation Oscar The Breadwinner tells the story of 11-year-old Parvana growing up in Afghanistan during Taliban rule. When Parvana’s father is wrongfully imprisoned she is forced to find work, even though women and girls are not allowed out of the house unescorted. Disguised as a boy she sets out on a quest to support her family.
