Directed by Tony Scott
Starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon
Erotic vampire NYC set thriller. Catherine Deneuve is the stunningly beautiful vampiric lady Miriam, who promises her lovers eternal life– but not eternal youth. David Bowie’s John is her current lover who begins to experience rapid aging and seeks the help of Susan Sarandon’s Dr Sarah Roberts, an expert in aging, who is drawn into their circle. Miriam turns her attention from John to Sarah with the plan to make Sarah her new lover, but Sarah rejects the promise of eternal life.
If the presence of Bowie, Deneuve and Sarandon on screen does not give the film enough cool credentials in itself, then the opening credits played out to Pete Murphy’s Goth classic Bela Lugosi’s Dead re-mix sets the uber-stylish tone.
Screening as part of In Dreams Are Monsters: A Season of Horror Films, a UK-wide film season supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. indreamsaremonsters.co.uk
