Brothers Phil and George Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch and Jesse Plemons) run a successful yet brutal ranch in Montana. When George takes a local widow as his wife the balance between the two is disrupted. Director Jane Campion (Bright Star, The Pianodelivers an atmospheric and brooding western melodrama exploring themes of masculinity in crisis, with a career best performance from Cumberbatch as the conflicted and bullying Phil Burbank.
