Transitioning from Primary to Secondary school is a particularly significant change for young people. Learning about change, and how to cope with it, will help children process this particular transition, and prepare them for many other changes and challenges they may face in life.
Me, Myself and iPhone is a cross-curricular project for Year 6 students, culminating in a morning of activities and workshops at Storyhouse. The project also explores mobile phone use and some of the universal pressures linked to social media.
The event at Storyhouse begins at 10am and runs until 11:30am, allowing time for schools to make it back in time for lunch!
A variety of engaging and inspiring activities have been planned for the morning, including:
• Welcome from Project Leaders Tara Jones (Founder, LiMIT Tech) and Jacob Maudsley (Storyhouse Schools and Education Manager)
• Workshops exploring the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 and the themes of individuality, acceptance, identity, belonging, unconditional love and having the courage to be yourself.
• Presentations from our partner schools: A movement piece inspired by the notion of losing yourself to your phone, performed by students from Kelsall Primary School, and a creative response to the story My Shadow is Pink, from Newton Primary School.
• Panel event: A live Q&A with Year 7 pupils, offering Year 6 students the chance to ask any burning questions they may have, no matter how big or small!
