Next event: Thursday 5 September at 1pm
Uná is the joint Programme leader for the PGCE secondary programme and acting Director of Partnerships within the Faculty of Education. Uná sits on the curriculum advisory board for Chester Zoo and the steering group for the Cheshire Local Cultural Educational Partnership. Uná is passionate about Cultural and Creative education and the use of interdisciplinary teaching to support the training of student teachers and has developed strong partnerships to address in equalities in educational experience.
Uná will be giving a presentation on whether associate teachers should be professionally challenged to question if our secondary school system is fit for purpose. As part of a weeklong module associate teachers worked alongside artists and experts to develop a distinctive set of skills that they then used to design and deliver three days of project-based workshops within secondary schools on a range of topics. Play and creativity became a focal point for each of these projects, which saw a shifting mindset on the role teachers play in developing the whole child.
