Waru is a feature film made up of eight 10-minute short films, each written and directed by Māori women film makers. Following the death of a child, eight Māori women examine the consequences on themselves and their community.

The film will be introduced by a talk from Dr Andrea Wright, a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at Edge Hill University. Her research interests focus on fantasy and fairy tale cinema, set and costume design, British film and television, and New Zealand studies.

Preceded by a short film as part of the International Animation Festival.

This film will not have adverts or trailers – the short and introduction which precede the film will start at the advertised time.
