Directed by Drew Barrymore
Starring Elliot Page, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Wiig, Sarah Habel, Shannon Eagen.
Drew Barrymore’s rebellious directorial debut centres around Bliss (Elliot Page), a 17-year-old indie-rock loving misfit who is made to compete in pageants by her mother. Hope of escape comes in the form of a roller-derby that Bliss wants to compete in. She begins to rebel against her mother’s wishes for her future and achieve her own dreams.
The 2009 cult classic helped inspire a generation of people to lace up and form their own roller-derby teams, including the all-inclusive North Wales Roller Derby who formed in 2011; the members of which have been invited to attend and introduce the screening.
