Part of WOW: Women of the World festival Chester
Our RITA’s brings you an amazing all-star night of entertainment, featuring some of the best names in live stand-up. Funny Girls includes:
Mrs Barbara Nice (Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, BBC Radio 2’s Barbara Nice)
Mrs Barbara Nice is a much loved headline act throughout Britain. Mother of five from Stockport she believes in bargains and getting the most out of life. Ergonomically correct she doesn’t drive and travels the country by National Express coach… her husband knows nothing of her burgeoning comedy career and he thinks she’s either at Bingo or dog sitting.
Lindsey Santoro
From Birmingham, Lindesy Santoro has been active on the Midlands comedy circuit since 2014, following a comedy course. She made the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2016 and describes her style as a mix of the down-to-earth and the madcap.
Ruth E. Cockburn
Award-winning comedian Ruth is primarily a musical act, with well timed audience interaction and serial stories that take the audience on a nice little journey.
Molly Naylor
Molly Naylor is a scriptwriter, director, poet and performer. She is the co-writer and creator of After Hours (Sky One, 2015), a six-part comedy series directed by Craig Cash. She recently wrote and directed her first short film, Callback, staring Marcus Brigstocke and Sara Pascoe. Molly’s first solo show, Whenever I Get Blown Up I Think Of You debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010 to critical acclaim. Her adaptation of the show for BBC Radio 4 was described by the Guardian as “a brave, funny, tough and beautiful piece of writing“. Her second live show My Robot Heart sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012.
MC Lou Conran (Sarah Millican Tour Support, First Dates)
“A comedy bill with Lou Conran as compere is in good hands. If her name is on the programme, you’re in for a good night. She’s masterful at owning a room, and manages that rare talent of being able to tease audience members while becoming their best friend for the night” Fringe Review
“Naturally funny…” Sarah Millican
A hilarious finale to the WOW Chester festival.
