In this informal writing workshop with poet Betty Doyle, you will explore techniques and creative exercises to help with the writing process.

There will be time after the workshop to spend time working on your writing which you may wish to read out (or have Betty read out for you) at the Open Mic which takes place later in the afternoon.

Betty Doyle is a poet and student from the Wirral. Her poetry has been published in Poetry Wales, Agenda, Butcher’s Dog, And Other Poems, and Un(Mother) amongst others, and she has poetry upcoming in anthologies such as Performing Maternities and The ART of Infertility.

Most recently, her poem I am become a woman placed second in BRAG magazine’s poetry prize. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Girl Parts, was published by Verve Poetry Press in Spring 2022, and has been hailed as ‘tender, fierce, full of joy and rage’ by poet Helen Mort. Betty is currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University, researching infertility poetics.
