Storyhouse works in partnership with a number of organisations to run a host of festivals which celebrate and provide a safe space for communities. These include:

Storyhouse Queer – A brand new festival coming in 2023. Storyhouse Queer is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ communities of Chester and the wider region. Taking place in Queer history month in February, like our other festivals it will be co-curated with members of the LGBTQIA+ communities and organisations.

Storyhouse Women – a festival celebrating women, girls and non-binary people in March, highlighting the local, national and international issues facing women across the world.

Kaleidoscope Festival – a weeklong festival in July, celebrating neurodiversity and the talents of people living with a learning disability.

Storyhouse Elders – A festival exploring and challenging the societal perceptions of age and ageing, and the impact of creating and experiencing art in later life.  Launched in October 2022.

WayWord Festival – a festival for children in October half term. WayWord celebrates the power of words to ignite imaginations – go on an adventure and discover something new.

Storyhouse Childless – A day of events in September to explore living without children to build community, meet new people and hear people’s personal stories.

Chester Literature Festival – Chester’s annual celebration of the written word fills Storyhouse with unmissable events, performances and conversations during November.
