We can’t wait to welcome you to Storyhouse. We’ve put together some information about travel, Chester and the building to help ensure your visit is as easy as can be.
Event performance Times
We will always try to ensure event pages have up to date show times, including whether they have intervals or not.
The vast majority of films in the cinema have 15-20 minutes of trailers and adverts before the films. Exceptions are 11am morning screenings, which will always start at the advertised time, and films as part of a special screening or wider festival, which often feature an introduction or short films. Always check the individual event page for details.
For events in the theatre or Garret, latecomers may not be admitted until the interval or a suitable break in the performance. Please ensure you arrive in good time to take your seats.
You should have received your tickets by email when you booked. You can simply show this on your phone or printed out, you don’t need to collect them inside the building!
We will have a list of everyone booked, just in case.
The entrance to Storyhouse is on Hunter Street (CH1 2AR).
The building is open from 8am until 11pm Monday – Saturday (from 9.30am on Sundays), so feel free to arrive at any time before your event!
We suggest arriving no later than 30 minutes before the performance start time.
The nearest car parks to Storyhouse are:
Market Car Park (CH1 2HH) – located at the back of the Town Hall. This has 8 bays for disabled patrons, and is less than a two minute walk to Storyhouse.
Delamere Street Car Park (CH2 2AY) – This has 12 bays for disabled patrons, and is a six minute walk to Storyhouse.
Food & Drink
If you fancy a bite to eat before or after the show, Storyhouse’s restaurant is The Kitchen. Booking is not essential, but advised as pre-show it gets very busy. You can book a table by clicking here.
The bar at Storyhouse will be open with a range of drinks before and after the show and during the interval. You can order your interval drinks from the bar before the show. Drinks can be taken into the auditorium, but please ask at the bar for a plastic glass.

We do not offer refunds, but we can exchange tickets for an administration fee of £2.50 (conditions below).

Adverse Weather Policy for Performances at Storyhouse
Bad weather can sometimes present travel issues for ticket holders. It is inevitable that as inclement weather sets in there will be times when those travelling to Chester may feel it is not safe or wise to travel. However, in the great tradition of the theatre, the show does go on despite the weather. Storyhouse cannot make the decision when it is safe to travel – that has to be the choice of the individual. It is commonly acknowledged that when customers buy tickets it is the responsibility of the customer to get to the venue on time. However, if you do choose to travel in inclement weather, please allow plenty of extra time.
It is not possible to refund individuals who feel they can’t personally make the journey. Storyhouse may accept tickets for resale if the performance is playing to full capacity.
Storyhouse will inform customers if there are any alterations to the performance schedule if the weather makes it impossible to go ahead as planned. It is vital that at the time of booking you give us correct and up to date contact details.
