Opening Storyhouse Childless 2023:

Join a panel of five women as they share their personal stories about finding happiness and purpose in life, in a direction other than motherhood.

This is set to be a personal, insightful and supportive discussion where the audience will be able to ask questions and join in the conversation.

Panel

Dawn Llewellyn
Dawn is based at University of Chester, where she teaches and researches religion and gender. When she’s not open water swimming, or walking someone else’s dog, she’s working on her next book, Motherhood, Voluntary Childlessness and Christianity: Narratives of Choice (Bloomsbury). Dawn is Childless by Choice.

Caroline Stafford
Caroline lives in a small village in Rutland with her Dairy farming husband Gareth, and their two border collies, Meg and Flo. Caroline and Gareth spent ten years trying to have a family, undergoing fertility treatment both in the U.K. and in Athens, Greece. Caroline runs a baking business, The Kitsch Hen, sending biscuits hand-stamped with messages of hope and encouragement through letterboxes across the country that came directly from her own experiences.

Annie Kirby
Annie lives on the south coast of England where she works as a research fellow in cybercrime and economic crime. She has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and a PhD in American Studies. Her short stories have been published in anthologies and broadcast on national radio and she is a winner of the Asham Award for short fiction. Her first novel The Hollow Sea, about childlessness and mythology, was published in 2022.

Nicole Louie
Nicole is a writer, translator, and content curator based in Ireland. She is dedicated to sharing the stories of amazing women without children both online and in her upcoming non-fiction book. Her essays about not having children have appeared in Oh Reader and Childfree Magazine, and her curated collections of books, movies, and podcasts about childlessness can be found on Twitter and Instagram: @bynicolelouie.

Bindi Shah
Bindi is a meditation guide, writer and life coach, who specialises in teaching meditation classes and writing workshops for the involuntary childless community. Bindi has run weekly meditation classes for the involuntary childless community since February 2021 and holds regular Write to Heal workshops, as well as in-person gatherings and an online forum for students. She is inspired to continue growing her work within the childless community, a community which has her heart.
