What is Youth Theatre?
Youth Theatre is a year-long, fun, creative programme for young people. Through weekly sessions, young people will learn performance skills, play games and make theatre in a supportive and safe environment. At the end of their year with us, Youth Theatre members will put all they have learnt into practice in a show on the Storyhouse stage.
Who runs Youth Theatre?
Youth Theatre is run by our fantastic Storyhouse Creative Learning Practitioners. All of our Creative Learning Practitioners have experience working with young people in a drama or theatre setting. They are all DBS checked and safeguarding trained and have been trained by Storyhouse to ensure that the Youth Theatre is delivered to a high standard.
Will there be a chance to perform?
Yes! Our Youth Theatre have multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year. This includes small performances to their peers, wider sharing with other youth theatre groups and collaborating with external practitioners.
As part of our programme the Youth Theatre groups work collaboratively to produce a full show on the Storyhouse stage.
This years show will be performed on 19-21 July 2024 (for 14-17s).
More information about the show will be available at Christmas time 2023 so we can ensure that we’re performing something to meet the needs and abilities of the group.
