Housekeeper

As a Storyhouse Housekeeper, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Housekeeper and Facilities Manager in maintaining the overall presentation and functionality of the building. You will ensure a clean, orderly and accessible environment for all visitors to Storyhouse, that will become a critical factor in maintaining and strengthening our reputation.

This role will suit an individual with previous experience in a cleaning team, and who also possesses integrity and a high level of attention to detail.

Applicants must be available to work afternoon/evening shifts between 2pm-9pm, 5 days a week, 3hrs a day. This will include weekends and flexibility is required.

Young Company Director (freelance)

Storyhouse is delighted to be seeking a Theatre Director or Company to work with the Storyhouse Young Company on their 2025 production on a freelance basis. You will rehearse an existing script which will be performed to the public at the end of the training programme.

We are interested in meeting bold creatives with innovative ideas to take ownership over this project and put their stamp on this production.

The role will be based at Storyhouse, Chester and will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Kitchen Porter

Storyhouse’s Kitchen Porters work as part of our Kitchen team to help provide delicious food to customers and maintain high standards of food hygiene.

Shifts will include a mixture of days, evenings and weekends, so you will need a flexible approach to work.

Experience is desired, but not essential, as full training will be given. You will, however, need the ability to cope in a fast-paced environment and have a genuine interest in
helping maintain high standards of food hygiene

Restaurant Supervisor

As a Restaurant Supervisor at Storyhouse, you will provide leadership to the teams under your management and offer a knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and professional customer service to all our visitors. You will supervise a team of service assistants with the smooth running of all service operations, including the bars, restaurant, events and general enquiries.

Service Assistant

As a Service Assistant, you will be working in Storyhouse’s restaurant, The Kitchen. You will be responsible for assisting customers during their visit, working on a bar, and delivering food to tables.

We are looking for staff who are available to work a mixture of weekdays and during the weekend. Events can run from 8am – 1am, so unsociable hours are common with this role, and flexibility is a requirement. All applicants are required to work weekends and evenings.

We are looking to meet local practitioners who work with children, young people or communities in a range of creative art forms who are interested in getting to know Storyhouse and the work that we do or who want to share with us that working in this sector.

Work Experience Week at Storyhouse

Storyhouse Work Experience Week: 1-5 July 2024 (full days)

Our Work Experience Week has been designed in response to the high number of enquiries we receive from school and college students for work experience opportunities. These opportunities are available to 14 – 19 year olds only (Year 10 – Year 13).

Work Experience Week gives young people the opportunity to experience what it’s like working in a busy cultural organisation. During Work Experience Week, young people will take part in workshops and talks with Storyhouse staff to discover the different departments and elements that make up the world of Storyhouse. If you’re thinking about a career in the arts then this is a great opportunity for you!

  • Receive a backstage tour of the building
  • Be given the chance to meet staff from different departments such as producing, technical, library, cinema, marketing, fundraising, engagement, hospitality and front of house
  • Take part in challenges set by Storyhouse members of staff throughout the week
  • Put skills into practice by creating their own takeover event at the end of the week
  • Gain tickets to see a Storyhouse Original play over the summer

The week is free to take part in. To apply, you must be free for all of the days and times listed below and be able to come to Storyhouse in Chester every day.

Storyhouse Work Experience: Monday 1 July – Friday 5 July full days.
