Volunteer at Storyhouse Youth Theatre

If you are passionate about theatre, interested in using the arts as a tool for social development and enjoy supporting young people, we have the opportunity for you!

Youth Theatre volunteers support our delivery of drama-based activity with young people! We have several termly opportunities available supporting ages 5 – 16 on a weekly basis.

Opportunities available are:

  • Production chaperone
  • Workshop volunteer

Production chaperone

You will support the youth theatre team at rehearsals and performances on the main stage. You will help to look after the children whilst they are backstage and ensure their welfare needs are met, they are safe and they are supported.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to learn more about what happens backstage and develop their leadership skills with young people. It is also a great role for people who are very used to working to support young people acting as their advocate.

You need to be aged 21 or over for this role and willing to apply to get a volunteer chaperone’s license from your local Council, which includes a DBS check. This role will require evening and weekend hours.

Wednesday 20 July     5pm – 9.30pm

Thursday 21 July            5pm – 9.30pm

Monday 25 July             5.30pm – 9.15pm

Tuesday 26 July            9am – 12.15pm and/or 12.30pm – 8.15pm

Wednesday 27 July      9am – 12.15pm and/or 12.30pm – 8.15pm

Workshop volunteer

You will work closely with our youth theatre facilitators and support them as they deliver their weekly session. You will get to know the young people and at times support them on a 1:1 basis to help them achieve the tasks set by the team. You will be their guide, helping them navigate and negotiate being in the group.

This is an exciting opportunity for direct experience working with young people. The role will suit you whether you have a vast amount of experience with young people and want to give something back or little experience with young people and want to develop your youth arts practice.

You need to be aged 18 or over for this role. We ask that you can commit to a full term (Autumn, Spring or Summer) for the group you volunteer in.
