Darren Aronofsky’s ‘ballet movie’ Black Swan about an obsessional dancer has much in common with Powell & Pressburger’s 1948 masterpiece The Red Shoes.

Natalie Portman stars as Nina, a prima ballerina struggling with portraying both the white and black swan in a New York City Ballet production of Swan Lake.
