Event details

Directed by Lynne Ramsey
Starring Tommy Flanagan, Mandy Matthews, William Eadie

Set in Glasgow during the mid 70s, Ratcatcher is seen through the eyes of twelve-year-old James Gillespie, a young boy haunted by a secret. Feeling increasingly distant from his family, his only escape comes with the discovery of a new housing development on the outskirts of town where he has the freedom to lose himself in his own world. Enticed by a local gang of older boys, James is thrown together with vulnerable fourteen-year-old Margaret Anne and the pair strike up an unlikely friendship which becomes their hesitant but touching experience of first love.

Introduction by #ReclaimTheFrame

The screening will be preceded by an introduction by Anne Louise Kershaw, Reclaim The Frame local impact producer.

Anne Louise Kershaw is a sound and visual artist, who utilises field recordings and oral histories,  found objects and personal archives in her work. With a particular interest in  radical, feminist, queer culture, working class and folk history, she seeks to find and share unheard stories and personal narratives in her work, that would otherwise be overlooked and forgotten. She has an album released under the name synda sova (Bricolage) and performs in a sonic collective, semi-improvisational band called back of the brain. She is also a writer, curator and artist mentor and Director of Instigate Arts CIC.
