How to Survive Being Single Living Without Kids - Talk & Discussion Group
Event details
Part of: Storyhouse Childless
In a world that often equates worth with romantic partnership, being single can come with layers of shame, stigma, and misunderstanding. This thought-provoking panel discussion will explore the hidden (and not-so-hidden) messages we receive from media, culture, and personal circles about singlehood — and the emotional impact of those messages as well as ways to overcome the stigma and begin to thrive.
Each panellist will begin by sharing their current relationship status and a personal reflection, offering insight into the diversity of single experiences — from contentment to frustration, from freedom to judgment.
This event is for anyone who’s ever felt “othered” for not ticking the relationship box — and for those who want to challenge the outdated narrative that being single means being incomplete.

Panellists include:
Bibi Lynch
Bibi Lynch is a journalist, writer and broadcaster — who has written extensively about the childless experience. She recently presented the Let’s Get Frank podcast – where she dated people called ‘Frank’… – and shows/interview series (After the Watershed, Bibi Lynch’s WHIPs and Bibi Does S&S) on BBC Radio Sussex and BBC Radio Surrey. She also co-presented the Good Sex Bad Sex podcast for metro.co.uk – and was the host of Soho Radio’s Bibi Does Soho for over six years. She is a World Childless Week Ambassador.
Henrietta Copeland She/Her
Henri is a freelance brand and marketing consultant based in Cornwall. Beyond work, she can usually be found in her veg garden either pulling up weeds or writing from her tiny shed. She has featured on the podcast Therapy Works talking about the silent grief of childlessness, and more recently on Happy and Childless talking about being both single and childless. Henri’s current take on things is that she is childless-by-singleness, but she is aiming to think of herself as childfree-by-chance.
