Godot is a Woman

This event has passed

Event details

Since Beckett wrote Waiting for Godot, he and his estate have notoriously challenged – often legally – non-male companies that wish to perform it.

Silent Faces return with their trademark style of playful and political physical theatre, in a whip-smart interrogation of authorial copyright, gender barriers in the arts and the cultural significance of Madonna’s 1989 album, Like a Prayer.

Samuel Beckett? thank u… next.

Godot is a Woman ran at the Pleasance London in 2021 to rapturous audiences and critical acclaim before transferring to the Pleasance at Edinburgh Fringe in 2022, where the show enjoyed sold-out audiences, award nominations and multiple 5-star reviews.

Featured in The Guardian’s 20 theatre, comedy and dance shows you shouldn’t miss at Edinburgh Fringe 2022

Shortlisted for the Popcorn New Writing Award 2022 in association with BBC Writersroom

As heard on The Guilty Feminist podcast with Deborah Frances-White and Radio 4’s Roleplay
