Finance Manager
Storyhouse is seeking a Finance Manager to support the smooth, accurate and high‑quality running of our financial operations. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day accounting processes, maintain robust systems, and guide a small team to deliver consistent, detail‑driven work. You’ll collaborate across departments to strengthen financial understanding and ensure timely reporting that underpins our artistic, community and organisational ambitions. This role plays an important part in supporting Storyhouse’s resilience and contributing to the vibrant, community‑centred organisation we are proud to be.
Salary: £35 – £38k per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full time, 40 hours per week

Producer (Maternity Cover Position)
Storyhouse is seeking a Producer to help shape and realise our artistic ambitions across a bold and varied programme. Working closely with the Artistic and Programming teams, you’ll lead the producing process from first idea to final performance, ensuring our productions and co‑productions are delivered with imagination, care and clarity. You’ll oversee work spanning indoor and site‑specific theatre, family shows, community projects, and both large‑ and small‑scale tours, embedding collaboration and high production values at every stage. This role plays a central part in bringing Storyhouse’s creative vision to life and supporting the vibrant, community‑focused organisation we are proud to be.
Salary: £31,000 per annum
Contract: Maternity Cover (12 Months), Full time, 40 hours per week

Casual Technicians
You’ll play a key role in delivering Storyhouse’s productions and visiting work, providing skilled technical support throughout get‑ins, fit‑ups and get‑outs, and working closely with the Technical Manager and senior technical team to ensure every event runs smoothly and safely. You’ll take the lead on operating and programming lighting using the ETC EOS range, run a Yamaha digital sound desk, and support both lighting and sound across a wide variety of performances and projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone enthusiastic, hands‑on and collaborative, with experience in a similar environment and a passion for creating high‑quality live experiences. You’ll bring a positive, solutions‑focused approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to working as part of a close‑knit technical team to help realise Storyhouse’s ambitious and wide‑ranging programme.
Salary: £12.71ph
Contract: Casual

Work Experience Week at Storyhouse
Applications for Storyhouse Work Experience Week 2026 are now closed.
Dates for work experience this year are Monday 29 June – Friday 3 July.
Our Work Experience Week has been designed in response to the high number of enquiries we receive from school and college students for work experience opportunities. These opportunities are available to 14 – 19 year olds only (Year 10 – Year 13) in school/college or are home-educated but within the age bracket.
Work Experience Week gives young people the opportunity to experience what it’s like working in a busy cultural organisation. During Work Experience Week, young people will take part in workshops and talks with Storyhouse staff to discover the different departments and elements that make up the world of Storyhouse. If you’re thinking about a career in the arts then this is a great opportunity for you!
- Receive a backstage tour of the building
- Be given the chance to meet staff from different departments such as producing, technical, library, cinema, marketing, fundraising, engagement, hospitality and front of house
- Take part in challenges set by Storyhouse members of staff throughout the week
- Put skills into practice by creating their own takeover event at the end of the week
- Gain tickets to see a Storyhouse Originals play over the summer
The week is free to take part in. To apply, you must be free for all of the days listed and be able to come to Storyhouse in Chester every day.
Due to the high level of applications we cannot guarantee you a space and you may be invited to a group interview with the team.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer work experience placements outside of this programme.
Applications will close on Monday 9 February and group interviews will take place during the week commencing 23 February.
