Your Voices: Celebrating Local Writers
Saturdays during Literature Festival at 4pm:
Saturday 6 November – Local Stories
Saturday 13 November – Poetry and Spoken Word
Saturday 20 November – Fiction and Short Stories
Storyhouse is proud to showcase local writers, poets and storytellers. Your Voices will be a celebration of both established and emerging local talent and is also an opportunity to promote and sell copies of your books. We are looking for local people with something to say and are offering 10 to 15 minutes each to talk/perform/read from your book and answer any questions that the audience might have. Please note we will provide a microphone and PA system.
Storytime
Tuesdays and Thursdays during Literature Festival at 4pm
Saturdays and Sundays during Literature Festival at 11am
Are you a storyteller or have you written a children’s book? We will be running Storytime sessions in the Kitchen after school during the week and on weekend mornings and will be offering short solo slots to local writers for some of these sessions.
Events will take place in The Kitchen and will be free and open to the public, so material needs to be suitable for all and we’ll take this into consideration when programming the slots. Spaces are limited, so members of the Library and Programming teams will choose from the submissions received to ensure a varied programme across all of the events.
Writers should have a connection to Chester or the surrounding local area, past or present.
To apply, fill out the below form. Deadline for submissions – 4 October.
