Storyhouse Young Leaders have created, organised and hosted a free history-themed event for children at Storyhouse.
Storyhouse’s Young Leaders programme enables local 14-25 year olds to gain insight in to the creative industry and discover what is involved in running a cultural centre.
Last night, Storyhouse’s 18-24 group completed their programme by conceiving a free, fun and educational after-school event to bring primary school-aged children and their families in to Storyhouse. Taking their cue from the success of Storyhouse’s Harry Potter Night, the Young Leaders created a Journey Through Time, taking participants through different historical ages.
From learning their Viking name, to exploring Tutankhamun’s tomb, to becoming a grisly Victorian and a Roman solder, children engaged in crafts and activities throughout the different spaces of Storyhouse.
Young Leader Laura Jenkinson said “We’re so pleased that so many people made the effort, dressed up and came to explore a journey through time!”
