The Blue Lantern Sessions
The Blue Lantern Sessions at Storyhouse are a series of intimate evenings of acoustic music, featuring some of the most talented Roots, World, and Acoustic artists in the current music scene.
The concept for these sessions originated from the collaboration between Welsh duo Igloo Hearts and Storyhouse, driven by a shared vision of showcasing top-tier artists and exceptional musicianship in the exquisite setting of Storyhouse’s Garret Theatre with its remarkable acoustics.
Igloo Hearts, known for their recent appearance on the Channel 4 series ‘The Piano’ and their performances across the UK, including venues like the Liverpool Philharmonic and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, consist of James and Katie MacGregor, a married couple who first met over 15 years ago at the Blue Lantern open mic, founded by Neal Thompson (co-founder of Focus Wales International festival) and Laura Leigh Dickenson (a prominent artist based in Brighton).
Inspired by the magic of Blue Lantern but with a unique twist, Igloo Hearts aims to craft an immersive experience for the audience, akin to being in the cozy atmosphere of their own living room. Prepare to be captivated by songwriters who will evoke deep emotions and send shivers down your spine with their performances.
Igloo Hearts will kick off the evening as hosts and compères. (“One of the best ever piano and vocal performance” Mika (judge on The Piano); “Sheer quality and originality… a real breath of fresh air. Simply outstanding!” Chester Folk Festival).
The spotlight will then shift to a promising ‘up and coming’ support artist before the main headline act graces the stage. Expect a variety of sell out and hugely popular names from the acoustic scene, but in an intimate ‘Jools Holland style setting’.
