All That Heaven Allows
Too Much: Melodrama on Film
Event details
We regret to announce that the advertised Camp at the Cinema introduction will not be going ahead due to insufficient bookings to run the event. Events like this rely on audience support, you can explore other Camp at the Cinema locations here.
The scheduled screening of All That Heaven Allows will now start at 6.45pm. There will be no ads or trailers ahead of this screening.
Jane Wyman stars as Cary, a well-off widow who falls in love with her younger gardener (Rock Hudson), much to the disapproval of her adult children and snobbish country-club friends. Will she follow her heart and risk becoming the subject of small-town gossip; or will she sacrifice love to satisfy society’s expectations?
Filmed in rich Technicolor, All That Heaven Allows is a treat for the senses, filled with sumptuous colour, dreamy lighting, and sweeping orchestral arrangements – yet beneath the gloss lies a sharp critique of class snobbery and social conformity.
