Babyface: The Fierce Wrestling Musical
by Seiriol Davies | Work In Progress Preview
Event details
Glitz. Glam. Body Slam.
Be among the very first anywhere in the world to experience Babyface — a brand new piece of musical theatre-in-the-making, in an exclusive work-in-progress performance at Storyhouse this February.
Musical theatre collides with real-life wrestling (in a real-life ring!) in this rags-to-spandex story of friendship, ambition, and identity.
Babyface follows two tender queer souls fighting their way up through an industry where your persona is your power — and selling it is everything. Fusing show-stopping musical numbers with high-impact pro-wrestling, it’s a laugh-out-loud, adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride that asks:
In a polarised world, what happens when your hunger for community clashes with your drive to WIN?
Expect blood, sweat, tears… and plenty of glitter!

What's Babyface about? North Walian writer Seiriol:
“Babyface is a story about a young boy from Rhyl travelling to the big city, Birmingham, to make it big, and the trials of trying to succeed in any cut‑throat world – especially one as magical, camp and massive as wrestling – which leads to all sorts of scrapes.
I think it will appeal as much to fans of big‑hearted musical comedy as it will to die‑hard wrestling obsessives – there’s something in there for everybody.
Obviously, if you like shows like Hairspray, Book of Mormon – all those free‑wheeling, fun, camp, silly, funny, laugh‑a‑second shows – you’re going to have a good time. And you’ll be humming the tunes as well.”
Meet the cast… and the wrestlers!
