Blue Lantern Sessions: Motel Sundown

Event details

Members priority booking on sale from Thursday 4 December, 11am
General on sale from Friday 5 December, 11am

Expect a Jools Holland-style setting, with the best sell-out names from the acoustic scene.

Experience the Blue Lantern Sessions at Storyhouse, an intimate evening of acoustic music featuring top Roots, World, and Acoustic artists.

Inspired by an open mic where they first met (called the Blue Lantern), Welsh duo Igloo Hearts bring this vision back to life, with a unique twist, at The Garret Theatre.

Led by James and Katie MacGregor, (recently featured on the Channel 4 show ‘The Piano’) Igloo Hearts promises an immersive experience akin to a cozy living room atmosphere.

Prepare for captivating performances that evoke goosebumps and stir the emotions.

The evening begins with Igloo Hearts as hosts, followed by an ‘up and coming’ support artist, before the main headline act takes to the stage.

Motel Sundown. With a sound reminiscent of softrock bands of the 60s & 70s, Motel Sundown draw listeners in with heartfelt lyrics and luscious threepart harmonies.

The three friends began writing together in 2018 after discovering mutual influences, releasing their debut album If You Were Listening in 2022 following a trio of singles. Labelled “a band to watch in 2024 and beyond” (Fatea), the Liverpoolbased band have since supported The Hanging Stars, Ashley Campbell, The Chapin Sisters, and more recently US Grammynominated artist Courtney Marie Andrews, with two UK tours under their belt.

2024 proved their busiest year yet following the release of their debut EP El Dorado in June — “vividly nostalgic songs that envelop and intrigue you” (Boot Music) — and soldout shows at the Music Room, Liverpool and Green Note, Camden. Their momentum continued with a second appearance at Black Deer Festival, a shared bill with The Jacksons at Liverpool Pier Head, and a 9date UK and Ireland tour closing out the year with multiple sellouts.

Their 2025 itinerary sees further selfreleases following the success of their fingerpicked ballad Rosie, which has drawn comparisons to Nick Drake and Fleetwood Mac. They are currently releasing new music from their upcoming EP, due Spring 2026.

“After all their time playing in Liverpool, it’s no surprise their sound is already honed and song craft accomplished.” — AMERICANA UK

“The perfect soundtrack to a road trip at sunset, leaving your troubles behind and your hopes out in front.” — URBANISTA

“This is sophisticated Americana that should see them going places.” — FATEA
